How Is The Ultimate Leavers Hoodie Made? 01/05/2015

As Ultimate Leavers Hoodies we pride ourselves as being the hoodie printing specialists in Scotland and the UK. We have over 3 decades worth of experience with screenprinting, heat transfer and embroidery techniques. We’re passionate about providing the highest quality personalised garments for school leavers, college students and university graduates in Edinburgh, across Scotland and the whole of the UK and we are committed to bringing you the best personalised hoodies available.

What makes a leavers hoodie so Ultimate? We offer a customized screen print, a personalised nickname and embroidery, all included in the price, so there are no hidden costs or extra set up charges! And we also offer free delivery with each order! We understand that students and graduates all want to be different and stand out from the crowd. That’s why with our simple online shop, each individual can choose their own size, colour and put in their own nickname. When picking out our hoodie catalogue, we chose the highest quality garments which give school leavers, college students and university graduates the widest choice for their leavers hoodie. All of our hoodies are made to order in our workshop with your personalised and custom made leavers design, so we are able to insure the best quality for each hoodie that we send out.

So how exactly does screen printing work?

Screen printing has been around for quite some time now. Essentially, it’s a fine mesh with a design stretched over a frame, which allows different images to be printed onto garments, paper, even wood. It first appeared in China thousands of years ago, but wasn’t very popular in Europe until silk mesh became more widely available. The process is also known as silk-screening because that was the main material used instead of the polyester mesh we use nowadays. Fun fact: You might be surprised to learn that one of Andy Warhol’s most popular multicoloured piece of Merlyn Monroe is actually screen printed.

The first step of our process is for you to approve the visual for the back of your leavers hoodie that our designers have come up with, so we can set up the screen. Depending on the different designs we can use more or less dense mesh for each screen. We use a photo reactive emulsion which allows us to “cure” your design onto a screen and an inverted (or mirrored) version of your design is impressed onto it, which we attach to one of our machines. We then mix the colour, pour it on top of the screen and squeegee it onto each leavers hoodie. All that’s left to do is to cure the ink onto your hoodie and the screen printing process is finished.

Screen printing is great to use for a large batch of garments with the same design. However for a personalised nickname on each hoodie we use vinyl and a heat press. Each name is cut out from a piece of vinyl, placed onto your hoodie and transferred on with heat and pressure. The process allows us to personalize each leavers hoodie individually, but takes more time for bigger orders.

The third personalisation we offer for hoodies is embroidery. Once again, artwork is very important here, but we can usually find a good quality logo of your school or university online, which we then digitize into a format our embroidery machine can read. More complicated logos with multiple colours and details can take up to an hour or even more to embroider!

Everybody loves leavers hoodies, but have you ever wondered how much care and effort goes into personalising each hoodie to make it the perfect leavers memento?

Have a look at our “how it’s made” video below to find out.

A Hoodie Lover’s Favourite Things About Spring 10/04/2015

The Ultimate Leavers Hoodies Team’s favourite season is here: spring! Because we love lounging around in our hoodies and can’t really be bothered with coats and hats, there is nothing more exciting to us than spring! Have a look below at why this is our favourite season:

  • The weather

When you live in the UK the weather isn’t ideal even in the warmer months and sunshine is rare, but winter can be quite tough especially. We have had a long one this year, but now that spring is definitely here we love it! Bring out the sunglasses! Bring on the sunshine!

  • The flowersOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

With everything blooming now, we can’t get enough of the colourful parks full of daffodils everywhere!

  • Spending more time outdoors

It’s time to stop spending all day at home and head outside to explore. In parks or by the seaside, as long as it’s not rainy we’ll be there!

  • The wildlife16086781789_a65b40594b_o

Wild animals also become more active and you’re more likely to spot squirrels running around searching for nuts or a shy fox roaming about.

  • Clothes

Spring puts an end to the big boring winter coats. Put all your black wintery clothes away and bring out the fun and colourful spring clothes! We’ve all brought out our favourite bright hoodies and we’re loving it!

  • End of school year is nearIMAG2259

Spring might mean final exams are near for some of you, but it also means the end of the school year is near as well!

The end of the school year also means something else to us… School Leavers! School Leavers Hoodies are our passion and this is a busy time for us, but we love it! And even though the numbers on the backs of the hoodies may change every year, one thing never changes and that is our dedication to provide you with your Ultimate Leavers Hoodie!

What is your favourite thing about spring? Let us know in the comments!

The Best April Fool’s Day Pranks of 2015 01/04/2015

The Ultimate Leavers Hoodies team has been looking forward to April Fool’s Day probably more than Easter. Why you ask? The genius pranks! And while we may be too busy to pull one off, it doesn’t mean we don’t love them. Have a look at our favourites this year!

  • Marmite13817_10155364700965114_6157862287193980316_n

Probably the first one that caught our eye today; we thought something was simply missing from this picture, but on the contrary. Marmite have introduced the newest member of their condiment family: Marmite Clear. We’re not sure whether we’d love it or hate it, because we just can’t try it.

  • Tescotescotramp

The next one is an ingenious idea in our opinion, shame it’s only a scam.

Reaching items on high shelves isn’t always easy when you’re on the short side, but Tesco have been busy working on a new solution for that problem: bouncy aisles, which should be with us this year! According to Tesco the added bounce will make struggling for products at the top shelves a thing of the past.
We almost got excited for this one!

  • Googlepacmaps1

Every year Google try to outdo themselves for April Fool’s Day and what they have going this year is once again nothing short of entertaining and brilliant. If you need help with navigation today, or something to kill some time with, Pacman Google Maps will get you sorted. We’re really impressed by the level of detail of Edinburgh Castle here.

  • IKEAikea1

IKEA have come up with the LURA selfie stick holder. Described as “simple and stylish so you’ll never miss a point and pout opportunity again.” This one is kind of obvious if you’re from the country IKEA originates from, lura means trick in Swedish. Nevertheless there probably be some disappointed faces in the IKEA stores today when people can’t find this.

  • Walkerswalkers1

Walkers have announced their revolutionary self seasoning potatoes after “months of fine-tuning” from their Research & Development team. We’re not sure what this even means, but the brand’s fans don’t seem to be too concerned about the “innovation”. Instead we found some hilarious comments on Facebook from justice seeking fans regarding half-full packets of crisps:

“Just fill the bags up to the top instead.”

“Stop messing around with April fools gags and concentrate on trying to actually put the crisps you already make actually into the bags you sell.”

“The brown segment of the packaging indicates how full each bag usually is.”

“A better April Fool’s would be that you’re actually putting crisps in the bag…”

  • ASOSaossmanbun1

For all the fashionable gentlemen out there, don’t miss the new spring trend: the clip-in man bun. If you aren’t blessed with the patience or dedication to grow a bun that can compete with Jared Leto’s or Chris Hemsworth’s this one’s for you.

  • Costa56549

If you do have a bun, you might need to let your hair down so your head can fit into an ostrich pillow. Costa have introduced Costa and a Kip today, a new service that lets customers have a power nap in their coffee shops. Check out their video to see how Costa and a Kip works.

We actually love this idea and we’re kind of bummed out it’s only a joke.

  • CERN researchers confirm existence of the Forceforce-coffee

(Image: Max Brice and Daniel Dominguez/CERN)

According to CERN theorist Ben Kenobi of the University of Mos Eisley, Tatooine: “The Force is what gives a particle physicist his powers, it’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us; and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.”

Although researchers are as yet unsure what exactly causes the Force, students and professors at the laboratory have already started to harness its power. Practical applications so far include long-distance communication, influencing minds, and lifting heavy things out of swamps.

Above you can see CERN physicist Valerio Rossetti using the Force for more mundane tasks, such as reheating coffee. Maybe we should head over there and learn how to use it ourselves, seems handy for when you can’t be bothered to go get remote. Have a read at the whole article here.

On another note, April Fool’s Day means the end of school/university/college is near for some of you. If you haven’t sorted your Leavers Hoodies yet, here is the change to get the Ultimate ones!

We have a variety of design and style options, so have a look here to choose the best one for you.

Our St. Patrick’s Day Tribute 18/03/2015

St. Patrick’s Day is here folks! And because green is the colour of Ultimate Leavers Hoodies this is our favourite holiday!
At the ULH office we have decided to go with something a bit different this year and to post a tribute to strange green animals for St Paddy’s Day. For the past week the team have tried to outdo each other and find the strangest green animals on the internet. Because why not? Here are the winners:

3.Double headed turtle

o-TWOHEADED-TURTLE-facebook

In third place is a weird and yet cute turtle! But watch your fingers if you come across one (two) of these little guys, there’s twice the chance you’ll get your fingers bitten off.

2. Green Tree Python & White’s Tree Frog

tumblr_n909s83NqP1rgid5jo2_1280

So these two might not be exactly odd, but there definitely is something mystical and majestic about a frog hitching a ride on a python. We’re not sure how exactly the affair ended, but we’d like to think these two were making their way to the pub for a pint of Guinness.

1.The Green Cat from Bulgaria

green-cat-varna-bulgaria-11

And in first place is definitely not something you see every day and no, we didn’t use our amazing Photoshop skills to edit a picture of a cat. This is the Green Cat from Varna, Bulgaria that bewildered the internet. As it turns out, the poor kitty was sleeping on a bag of green pigment, but you can check out the full story here.

In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, why not choose green as the colour for your leavers hoodie? We have a variety of green options for each hoodie so have a look here to choose the best one for you.

Freaky Friday 13/03/2015

Every Friday is Freaky Friday at the ULH office! And no, there were no weird mother-daughter body swaps ala Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. But once again it is Friday the 13th for the second time this year! And it’s only March! Here are a couple of real life Freaky stories to keep you spooked until Halloween.

Vanishing Rings

So, we (me and my fiance) moved into this flat back in 2010. It’s a simple, 1 bedroom flat with a kitchen-lounge, bathroom and box room that we keep our birds in. We are in the upstairs flat and there is a neighbor downstairs who is a man who lives on his own with his dog. It was originally built as one house, but was converted into two flats when the local council got hold of it.

Not long after we first moved in, we started noticing the odd shuffling sound and about a week or so after moving in, I heard an old lady giggle right next to my head while I was sitting in the bedroom. We also see the odd child-sized black shape that peers round doorways and moves from the bedroom to the bathroom. This has also been seen by guests too. It’s nothing all that bad at all and it never has been, but what has been confusing us is that all my fiancé’s rings vanish if he should place them on his bedside table.haunted house

It started off with a promising ring that I gave him when we first started going out. Now, he’s careful with rings and had a habit of taking it off before going to bed and placing it on the bedside table. The night in question he did just that and woke up to an odd shuffling sound by the bed, fell back to sleep and the next day woke up to the ring being gone.

Then it happened again when I gave him a replacement ring about 2 years later. He placed it on the bedside table, we woke up to shuffling and it was gone again the next morning.

Last year he bought himself an expensive silver ring as a treat while we were on holiday and when we got back he started his old habit of putting it on the bedside table at night. And it happened again. Shuffling during the night and gone the next morning.

We’ve searched everywhere around the table to check that it hadn’t just fallen off, but it’s nowhere around there at all.

It’s odd because we lost a metal bottle opener recently too and we woke up the next morning to find it in the middle of the kitchen floor. We wouldn’t have minded that, but the rings are expensive and it’s messing with our brains a bit.

Find this story here.

A Haunted House

My husband and I recently bought our first home. It was a bank owned home, so we didn’t know much of the history of the home. When we bought the house, our neighbor told us that people usually don’t stay in this house for a long time for some reason. And that also, 15 years ago a car ran into it and killed a husband and a wife. One other neighbor told us the same thing.

A couple weeks after we moved in, things started disappearing. We labeled our boxes and know where things were left, but they are gone! At first, I thought it was just because of moving so it’s normal not to be able to find things. Well it’s been 2 months now and still those things are missing.haunted house2

Three or so weeks ago, my husband was in the garage and I was up stairs when he called me. There is a small writing on the wall next to the garage door saying ‘house haunted’. We never saw this before. I mean it’s as if someone tried to hide the writing. Well at first it was sort of weird but then I was like well maybe it’s just the previous owner being upset about losing the house to foreclosure and trying to scare others away.

Since then, I feel like I am watched all the time. I am so scared to lie at night without light. I always have this image of an old man with gray beard staring at me. I am so scared to go to the garage alone. I used to work out down there and the laundry is there but I do not go there unless my husband is home and the door is open.

I don’t know what to do. I am so scared and sleepless. I am scared to go to sleep.
